CLUB DE GOLF RASA DE BERBES - LUIS ESTEVEZ FOUNDER

Here is a great holiday golf course with a great and recent backstory. It was just 20 years ago when a group of friends, including Luis Estévez Fernández, came up with the idea of building a golf course in Ribadesella located between the villages of Torre and Berbes, the plains of stunning natural beauty. Once the concession had been obtained, the construction of the course began, which today is now complete with its wonderful 18 holes along with its longest serving honorary members, the fallow flock of deer, the natural inhabitants of the land who parade proudly around the course today (a great golf with nature story for sure).
It was not an easy task, but thanks to Luis Estévez the Founder and main design influencer along with the 300 golf fans who joined the club two decades ago, who then provided the moral and economic means to achieve an incredible local golf story, from the pure love of our great game of golf. A little push in 2019 saw the finish of the last fairways. And now the Links feel and style of course proudly enjoys its success from local, national and international visitors all year round.

Our Golf Santa Marina course was one of the last courses that the Seve designed. A modern and competitive golf course with a wide variety of holes, perfectly integrated into the natural terrain. Read Seve’s own summary of his course below.
“The most difficult part of the course are holes 4, 5 and 6, to be compared with the famous “Amen Corner”. If you get through these holes, you’ll make it through to the end”. This is a course designed for all levels of players. It is fun and entertaining for those with the highest handicaps and can also present a real challenge for professional players, who would really have to use all the clubs in their bag. I have played on many courses and, I can objectively say that I don’t know of any course that has par 3 holes of the quality seen in Santa Marina. The par 5 holes, on the other hand, are not complicated, except for the 9th, where you have to choose the best way to play it. The par 4s are very complete, varied and well-balanced. I’m very satisfied with the work. It’s a natural course, where we have tried to bring into play all the peculiarities and natural elements of the land”. Seve Ballesteros Sota – Designer.
